Queretaro offers the best of both worlds: Spanish colonial charm and a modern lifestyle.Since the 1980s, the city has received a lot of migration from other states and cities, changing from a medium-sized town to one of the wealthiest cities of Mexico. Queretaro is also known for being one of the cleanest and safest cities to live in. As a result of its growth, many modern shopping centers and facilities have been built over the past 10 years, including Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, and Costco, to accommodate the needs of the modern day families that live in Queretaro. History

chief of Jilotepec, to found the town of Queretaro. He is said to have
won without resorting to arms after seeing a vision of the Cross and
Saint James the Great ("Santiago"), after whom the city was named.
